ECU Controlled

There are two different ways of wiring up your solenoid to the ecu. The first way is a direct ecu grounded output, which can be turned on by meeting any combination of parameters in the aux outputs section of any popular engine management.

For this example I am going to use NepTune as it has a vast number of parameters and a lot of flexibility when working with outputs.

I have the output setup so once all of the conditions are met the output will turn on. In this case it is using the ground output on the ecu for the purge control solenoid at ECU location A20.

You can select any available output from the list that you have open. I usually choose the PCS output as many people no longer run the stock evap system so this is more than likely going to be available.

When wiring anything directly to the ecu you need to use a relay, just for safety reasons. There is no reason to damage the ecu by hooking up any external device without using a fused relay.

Just about every normal automotive relay will look something like the diagram below. It is best to run a constant 12v to the relay to reduce noise when the ecu powers up.

You can also run the 12v source going to pin 85 from a toggle switch. This will allow you to run only low boost if you would like a lower power level for around town (it would act like a single stage controller, disabling the 2nd stage all together).
